This conversion depicts the Centaur version of the standard AA Tank used by the British (and British equipped) units in NW Europe from D-Day onwards, the Centaur conversions followed on from the Crusader AA, and supplemented these in service. The model was designed by Derek Hansen and Rob Tearle, and features a hollow turret with interior fittings, metal guns and etched brass sights, and hull stowage.
These were Liberty engine vehicles, and a new 'flush' engine deck, early mudguards and hull glacis plate with generator hatch and exhaust are also supplied.
Note that although production of these vehicles was undertaken, the exact quantity produced, and indeed whether they were Centaur AA Mk-1 or Mk-2 is still unclear. Any pictures of them in service would be MUCH appreciated! |
