| The Scammell Commander tractor was designed to tow the Crane Fruehauf semi trailer for the British Challenger-1 MBT, and is presently our standard heavy equipment transporter.
The tractor is powered by a Rolls-Royce CV12 TCE 625bhp engine, and can travel at up to 40 mph with a full load (an all up weight of 103 tonnes). A large winch is fitted for vehicle recovery, and a smaller capstan winch for cable deployment and recovery.
This superb 1/35th scale model was researched and produced by Tim Babb and was awarded the Modell-Fan Model of the year in 1995.
The tractor has a fully detailed chassis, suspension and winch, and the cab has opening doors and full internal detail. The etched brass fret includes front grilles, mesh covers, number and makers plates and even windscreen wipers. A set of decals for UK, NATO and Gulf war use are also included.
