| The Scammell Commander was designed to carry the British Challenger-1 MBT, and is presently our standard heavy equipment transporter.
The tractor is powered by a Rolls-Royce CV12 TCE 625bhp engine, and can travel at up to 40 mph with a full load (an all up weight of 103 tonnes). A large winch is fitted for vehicle recovery, and a smaller capstan winch for cable deployment and recovery.
This superb 1/35th scale model was researched and produced by Tim Babb and was awarded the Modell-Fan Model of the year in 1995.
The tractor and trailer models are available separately as K060T and K060S, and more detailed descriptions may be found in those data sheets.
In summary, the tractor has a fully detailed chassis, cab and winches, etched brass details and decals. The trailer also has tie-down tools, movable loading ramps, etched brass details and decals.
The combined decal set is available as DEK060, and the completed model is over 22"(56cm) long. |
